On our last day in Denver we went to the Red Rock Amphitheatre with Jake’s brother and his family. When I was a kid my family used to go camping in Southern Utah, so I’m familiar with amazing red rock formations. But this was totally different and unique.
This red rock formation is naturally shaped to create amazing acoustics. People first discovered this in the early 1900’s, and music groups made treks up the mountain to sing and play here.
Since then things have changed a bit. Now there’s an actual amphitheatre and stage. We happened to be there on a concert day, and we got to see some of the set up.
These are the natural rock formations that amplify sound.
Of course, even if you don’t stay for a concert, the views alone are worth it.
There’s also a little museum with historic facts and photos of the amphitheatre’s long and musical history.
Of course, the boys thought the big truck delivering equipment for the concert was the coolest part. To each his own.
