Another beautiful day at the beach for our family reunion! The beach at Fort Stevens is one of my favorite beaches. Not only is it gorgeous, it also has a unique history that left a mark.
This is the wreck of the Peter Iredale, a sailing vessel that crashed in 1906. At low tide you can walk right up to it and explore the rusty remains. I’d been to this beach a couple of times already, and I’m always fascinated. It’s hard to imagine this skeleton as a full ship that once sailed across the ocean.
Low tide also provided lingering pools and streams of water that were great for splashing, wading, and digging in.
It was the perfect end to a perfect reunion.
